Aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of:

• M&A and its role in corporate restructuring strategies;
• business valuation techniques and how financial modeling methods can be applied to valuing various types of business combinations;
• value creation (or destruction) as a result of corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.;
• takeover tactics and defenses;
• the importance of understanding assumptions underlying business valuations;
• a highly practical “planning based” approach to managing the acquisition process;
• challenges related to each phase of the M&A process;
• the pros and cons of alternative deal structures.
